I'll make sure to leave a few words. It's interesting how addiction is only indirectly brought into the story, for the most part, or leaves the lion's share of the narrative to collateral damage anyway.

I felt like I was getting to know the least interesting part of the story the whole time, and that I was stuck with that disadvantageous point of view right until the end.

That made me smile. I'm actually enjoying the woman's reflections and the intimacy captured, she's less of a goose than she thinks, her doubts are beautifully rendered, her joys as well, and the general tone is lighter than one would expect. I mean, for the most part. I can see how expectations may differ though. :)
