I hate the use of ‘they’ to describe 1 individual. I may not always be perfect in my use of English grammer, but my sensibilities, which honestly tries to respect language, revolts at this intentional butchery to obfuscate facts. It’s so disruptive to my brain each time the author does this, I mentally stop and ask, “‘They’ references one or more individuals?” It’s a repetitive & distracting blooper.
