Man how empowering this story and last chapter was. During the initial era of software development, it was common in practice for software to be stolen, copied, and used for free. Bill, Paul, Ric, and their team had to devise a plan and approach to make software hobbyists understand the ethical concerns of software, where it’s headed, and how they can contribute either with dev support or money.

Summary about bill gates, his childhood friend Paul, and Harvard classmate Monte worked together to develop a program called BASIC that would be the origin of how Micro-Soft was created. Also found it interesting how so many of his Harvard professors were upset with the amount of time he spent in the Aiken computer lab to build the program.

Update: Deep dive into Bills college tenure as a freshman, how he placed into an accelerated MAT course and continues working on programming skills. I like how he utilized the methodology of applying to several full time jobs as a freshman in the software field, just to see if he could land the jobs. I’m sure that helped sharpen his focus in terms of where he needed to up-skill within software engineering.

Source Code has been interesting, starts slowly by focusing on Bill Gates’s upbringing, family life, schooling, and his struggles with academics, social belonging, and extracurricular activities.

The book shifts to his early exposure to computers and the development of his passion for programming, finding bugs, built a payroll program, and hands on experience through small companies and his school, Lakeside.

Aaron Mackell The Micro-Soft team also had to develop a business plan that aligned with 2/3 still being enrolled in school, maintaining current business contracts that they had between MITS, NCS and the Data Tech comapany, and also building out their future plans for next 2 years.
