Caroline explanation for how they arrived at their current despicable mindset, but sad backstory will only ever offer a reason, not an excuse. Trying to make readers care about these unhinged women simply because they were traumatized as kids is asking too much. Countless people have suffered unimaginable trauma(s) yet haven't gone on to choose destruction or to believe genuinely insane conspiracy theories. The author's profiling is possibly shaping up to be more reward than illuminating examination, so although I respect how much work she poured into this, I question her judgment in choosing the angle she did. I hope that as I read on the impression improves.

A better book in this category is Sisters in Hate by Seyward Darby.
