Capturing thoughts here since I don’t have my reading journal with me — the fact that the main character (mountain lion) isn’t named or refuses to disclose the names his parents called him feels intentional. The desire for anonymity feels like a protection or trauma response to the clear abuse he experienced by his father for his “otherness” (queerness) loving this so far.
