Samkim is revolted by the fact that the bad guys ate birds. Why would he find that morally wrong? The creatures at the abbey do tend to mainly eat food made of plants, but they also eat fish. One could argue that fish aren’t sentient in the world while birds are, but that isn’t correct. In one of the earlier books, the heros have a conversation with a pike, so fish are as sentient as birds.

Will there every be a good stoat/ferret/weasel/polecat, or will the badger lord’s racism be 100% justified throughout the series?
