It took me three years and three different sponsors to work my way completely through the 12 steps, which was a humbling experience . It took me nearly a year just to do the infamous step four in which we make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves, because I had so many shadows and secrets that needed to be sorted through and inventoried. As of this writing, I’ve been clean and sober for almost 5 years. Still a beginner but it’s an important mile stone. They say it takes five years of sobriety before you even begin to get your marbles back. It takes a minute for your brain to land in clarity, and finally start thinking straight.

She went deeper into her recovery program during Covid which was online.
I moved deeper into my solitude, my artwork, my prayers, and nature. I got off social media, at First for days at a time, and then for months at a time. I started working on a new novel, I went for a long walks all alone in the woods, I practiced yoga, and never stopped talking to God. I meditated and wrote poetry

There’s a reason addicts keep a day count. It’s because each day clean is like a pearl on a string and you get to keep them all-until you become a pearl yourself.
It’s a process not without its irritations but it’s pointing toward the good and the beautiful.

Celebrate your discomfort. This is what it feels like to change.

Stay in your lane and work your program.
The results will come.

You had a dream, and now the dream is dying. You dreamed that ____could save you from a lifetime of pain, but __ can’t. you need to let that dream go. before you let it go, you must grieve it. hold that dream in your arms and weep over it, like a baby who died before its time. feel all the unbearable pain of it, all the pain that came before it. must not shut that pain down. This pain is where the healing starts.
