I got this book for my birthday. Funny thing is, I nearly bought it a couple weeks ago to give to my mom for Christmas, but settled on Elizabeth Gaskell's "Ruth" for her instead. Imagine my surprise when I opened presents on my birthday and found that Mom had bought the only other book I'd seriously considered for her just a couple weeks earlier.
