Wonderful biography, so thorough and entertaining, so many things to learn about Dr Franklin; his scant detractors need to see him as a man of the common people he was never trying to forge a spot among philosophers (tho an argument can be made that he has) but his advice and encouragement were directed low to inspire ambition. I love the description of BF as the original American prototype. We need more like him

BF invented the glass armonica - a series of glass cylinders played with a wet finger like the sounds made on a wine glass. It was all the rage and Marie Antoinette took lessons for the instrument and Mozart and Beethoven both wrote pieces for it!!
