my subway book. more italians but in the city this time. takes place right before the great depression. supposedly a highly regarded book of it’s time specifically regarding the italian american immigrant experience. it’s importance is compared to Steinbeck’s “grapes of wrath” which was released the same year and is now on my 2026 TBR list
