Me finding out one of the girls in the band Melody's now a part of is BIPOC from a food metaphor is so 2012 it's ridiculous. Her interest in alt music feels random for the sake of giving her a storyline this book, yet I do empathize with "underground" music being solace for people who feel like they don't fit in.
