I’ve started skimming. Still too much telling and not enough showing for my tastes. It’s like they don’t have feelings. I find myself thinking “blah blah blah.”

I am struggling to read this as a reader instead of a writer. The writing seems juvenile. I don’t mean it feels like a YA novel. It feels like a young, inexperienced writer. Everyone has to start somewhere, but I have read much better debuts. Lots of telling instead of showing.
