- dangers that we can't even comprehend - let alone deal with
- some forces or other species somewhere out there
- nothing is clear, but all very scary because how small we are and how little do we know about the world we are living in. Gibson makes a good metaphor here that we know as much about universe as houseflies in an international airport know about planes that can take them thousand kilometers in any direction
The idea behind this story has a potential for a good action, but instead the story is basically no action and all depressive thoughts about people being helpless toys in the hands of the bigger forces
