But it's not an act of kindness to not needlessly hurt someone. If we walk down the street and don't kick a dog, that's not an act of kindness. In the same way, avoiding forcing animals into gas chambers and mac-erators and onto kill lines isn't an act of benevolence - it's an act of justice and respect for the basic moral consideration that all animals deserve.
