Ugh, I need some encouragement to keep going with this one! I LOVE Dickens but this one feels repetitive and dry. I don't know I can be introduced to another 3 generations of a family in order to build up to a single (side) character's storyline! Plus Esther's moralising is getting a little old. Does it get better?

Yes, it gets better. The ending is really good. Stick with it!!

I felt the same about Oliver Twist and almost didn’t finish it, but I’m glad I stuck with it.
There is one particularly famous scene involving fire 🔥 . That is all I want to say for fear of spoiling it. But it’s worth pressing on for. (This is Andrew Van Os BTW lest you forgot my Goodreads pseudonym).

I'm almost to the halfway mark on the audiobook lol.
