John Williams’s writing style just has a way of making you extremely uncomfortable, but in a way that grips you. Like a car crash you can’t look away from. I felt the same way reading Butchers Crossing a while ago, but it’s almost more prevalent here. It just fills you with anxiety. Haven’t been able to put it this one down.
