this book should be everything i've ever wanted......and yet......it's not even close.

hmmm. the romances confuse me. i only feel chemistry in one pairing. the rest make me go ????

this is the first book i've picked up in...weeks. i read 40 pages from where i left off. i'm still having some serious issues with it. :/ like, the concepts are GREAT but they're not concrete and the danger doesn't feel real to me. i love nikolai and renata. that's about it??? lots of the writing isn't clicking with me, either. meh.

Neither of these kids are killers, so I wish the author would stop making it seem like there's a big reason for them not killing each other each time. She even gave them an out - keep playing their hands and when one of them wins the *magic* takes out the loser. So why are they so preoccupied with pretending to want to kill each other? It makes no sense.

over all her writing is okay? i'm a little wary of some of her sentence choices: awkward wording, a few run-ons, telling instead of showing. i am really put off by vika and i feel like so far she and yuliana are written too similarly. like, are all the girls in this world written the same way? the saving grace so far is: NIKOLAI. help me lord i already love him. i'm giving it a shot for him. he's glorious.

i am already put off by her writing but i will give it a try. *fingers crossed*
