Enjoyable book so far

Really enjoying this book, the pace of the book is fast with plenty happening along the way. Told from a first person P.O.V, set predominately in one city with the main protagonist, Edric Saran. the son of an Emperor exiled in another country as ambassador and starts with his one and only friend in the foreign county being murdered and his subsequent investigation despite being the chief suspect.
