Another non-Americanism: “At university?” We would say in college or in grad school. Also this book uses the word “literally” WAY too much.

Ok I’m only on page 30, and it is so obvious the author is not American. I have clocked at least three things already that are not phrased like an American would. “It’s called Molly”- we would say named Molly. A “fancy dress party”- costume party. And baptism of fire- maybe this isn’t a country-specific thing, but I feel like the expression is baptism by fire. I really hope this gets better.
