I’m glad I pushed through disgust and read it till the end, because it’s a brilliant story. But would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely not. My rate is 5*, but -2* for unbearable vulgarity.

Ooohhhh, the symbolism of the painting and the room. I LOVE it. And the failed but not really road trip. All the stupid plot points in the beginning, it all circled back and make sense now.

I don’t have kids so I can’t relate. But I feel like that mother to mother talk was very powerful.

Ow. And now I feel so bad that her lesbian dream ended, I feel heartache for her ;( I didn’t give a fuck about her struggling marriage or her random other guy obsession, but shattered lesbian dream is what got me. Am I projecting? Did I wanted it happened for MC because I wanted it to happen to myself, and now I’m sad for MC like it’s my own dream been broken?

Open marriage is cool, as polyamorous I’m very happy for protagonist, but why the fuck did she feel compelled to force all her friends into open marriage, and then act judgmental when they refused to? Author made protagonist look like a snob who thinks she is better than her friends and doesn’t respect other people’s boundaries.

I do like the bold theme of exploration. It takes guts to be honest with yourself, double guts to be honest in a book for public judgement.

I did like the lesbian scene tho… it wasn’t arousing, but it wasn’t repulsive either, I simply approved it. Maybe that’s what wrong, maybe the problem is me, maybe I’m just a closeted lesbian being lying to myself my whole life that I could play for both teams?

Dogshit scene… literally. I envy people who DNF this book before reading it.

May I just ask, who the fuck decided that? If it was a child, isn’t it too early for a 7 yo kid to decide that? And if it were parents, why are you forcing a child into nonbinary frame? What if a child actually a cis man? Why don’t you wait for your child to grow up first, and then let them figure out who they want to be in this world?

Just read a sex scene of MC and her husband, and finally formulated my problem with this book. Sex scenes are not sexy. I’ve read amateur erotic roleplay better than this “professional” fiction. I’m pretty sure I could write erp myself better than this. The way author describes intimacy doesn’t make me feel aroused, it makes me feel gross.
