I do like the veil motif, both in nature and in the decrepit castles. It's also the theme of it all, I think.

I love that the narrator does the French and Italian accents in this book, not sure why, but is very fun.

This is (somehow) unexpectedly hilarious. All the male characters are terribly emotional and sentimental and so performative in romance and poor Emily has to handle her own emotions and theirs and just be the sensible one with these silly dicks.

Finally got to the place, woooo!

Wow, the narrator sings a whole song from Venice! That's pretty cool!

Okay, I'm into this, though I have *words* for Valancourt (if this is the spelling, I'm listening to it).

Oh no! It's tragic that [redacted] is dying, but that they're warning Emily on their deathbed to reject sensitivity... That's so very tragic :(
