Have I mentioned that a lot of the things that happen in this novel are a little too convenient for my taste?

Of course this book had to explore the greedy, selfish aspects of human nature as well, but did the author have to kill off my favourite character in the process? *Sad*

Okay, I like where this is heading now.

I like that this book focuses on its first half on the rather benign side of human nature and our inherent sense of curiosity, although I have a feeling that with the arrival of “the tourists”, things are about to get complicated.

I wished the author were a little bit more descriptive of the environment and the creatures of this world.

Interesting world-building, and the science fiction nods to works like Godzilla, Star Wars, Stranger Things and Pacific Rim make me smile.

Intriguing and entertaining, but a lot of what’s happened thus far has been too convenient for the plot.
