Tom wants to make Jim a heroic prisoner, someone who escapes through made up hardships. This is starkly contrasted with them completely misunderstanding that Jim can’t be seen as a hero by white people. Tom is projecting the stereotypes of white hero’s on Jim which he cant be in the eyes of white people. Huck doesn’t like it but follows Tom bc Tom just keeps saying it has to be this way.

It’s nice to hear other parts of Hucks story that puts pieces together… will be interested to see how the story of this family progresses… if the two stories will align here or not
