she met up with Lotti and Dendy, both of them sporting Rowan's crocheted eyes. Dendy wore one on each of his largest leaves, while Lotti had affixed two tiny ones at the center of her petals. "You both look..." Terlu trailed off, not sure what adjective they were looking for.
"Amazing?" Lotti suggested.
"Yes, amazing," Terlu said
Dendy said, "I waaas goiling for 'absurd.'"
"That too," Terlu agreed.

"I'm not afraid."
"I am. It's all dark and cave-like."
He grinned. "Do you want to hold hands?"
"Always, but that's unrelated."

With a touch of exasperation, Yarrow asked, "Does everyone like you?"
She laughed. "I can give you a list of people who don't."
"Then it's a list of fools."

Yarrow distributed slices of honey cake-when had he made more? He had to be just continuously baking. Only other explanation was that the cat had learned how.

It wasn't as if she'd had a grand heartbreak. She had no real trauma to explain why she was the way she was. It was more just years' worth of little cracks in her heart ... She drifted through life, wanting and reaching but never having, always feeling just a little lost and just a little empty and just a little lonely. "I'm just too sensitive."

"I think I found a few spells that could work."
He quit chewing. "Why didn't you say that when I first came in?"
"You brought bread."
"This is more important than bread."
"How could anything be more important than bread, especially with honey butter?"

"I can help," Ree pleaded. "I eat danger for breakfast."
"You eat breakfast?" the sailor asked.
"I only eat danger."
"That's hilarious and adorable, but the answer is still no."
