I don’t know the difference with light mode verses dark mode but why do you think that they are doing this on purpose? And would they penalize groups for sending messages

I do think they did this on purpose, to remain an underwhelming platform. Annoying, yes, but also kind of nice? It feels kinda old school, and focused on book reviews rather than online social interaction (we have more than enough of that elsewhere)

And they wonder why people are jumping ship to other apps and platforms like fable and storygraph
Yeah I can’t jump ship, I have no way to get those apps so I’m stuck with Goodreads

It’s honestly beyond me how little anyone seems to care about improving Goodreads. I’ve been using the site for quite a long time now, and I haven’t seen any meaningful improvements in the past three or four years. I really can’t understand how it’s still one of the main platforms for book reviews while remaining so far below users’ expectations.
