The kids in the book act more mature then they did in the first book. It could be the fact that with meeting Linus they were not as comfortable as they are now a year later. more cohesive and a unit. They rely on each other and as they grow up they become more vocal and they look out for each other.

Is it a bad thing to hope that she will see it their way and end up loving the kids. That they are able to adopt them and live happy afterwards? It seems possible!
