Well now Keith Rudy has himself in a dilemma. He was always pushing for the death penalty of his former friend, Hugh. Well he got it. An execution date has been set. Only one person can save Hugh now, and it’s the governor. In a meeting with Keith, the governor put the decision of clemency on him. Said that he’d do whatever Keith wanted.. so he has to decide - does he really want Hugh to face the gas chambers?

Welp. Probably the worst person in the book, Nevin Noll escaped prison. Out of all the bad guys, he was the worst and deserved death row… but he’s probably in South America without fear

Well nevermind about The Boss being back. Lance got out of prison to find a new world along the coast. He had money, but that was basically it. No family. No friends. Nothing really.

Ah hell “The Boss” is coming back - Lance Malco is about to be released. He got Henry Taylor (the bomber) killed. Taylor was supposed to be in protective custody, but Lance seemed to make easy work of his murder. His body was taken to the gulf and dumped overboard for the sharks. Lance had a picture taken of Taylor’s dead body and sent it over to “Lou Palmer” AKA Nevin Noll.. clearly, he’s next

So I was wrong.. Keith is running for attorney general, not governor. And he’s the early favorite.

The Malco’s are in prison. The Strip is pretty much legitimate now - which cuts into Fats Bowman’s profits. To make more money he’s getting into drug smuggling out of New Orleans.
But a letter come to Keith from the man that was undercover for his father to help him put Lance Malco away - claiming to know about the drug smuggling, but wants out of jail in return for his favor. Keith is interested.

In a shocking turn of events, Nevin Noll accepted a plea deal - now it’s just the trial for Hugh Malco
Hugh’s trial was over before it even started. The prosecution had the emotions and the facts. The jury hardly deliberated and returned a verdict of death for Hugh Malco.

Oh no, Judge Oliphant had medical issues and had to recuse himself. The trials are delayed while they wait for a new judge.
Henry Taylor was offered and convinced to accept a plea deal.
Nevin Noll’s trial would be first.
And now it was time for Keith to recuse himself also - he was relieved to do so.

The FBI had been following him for awhile and set up a fake job which he took the bait. Noll got him the explosives. They broke the news to Keith Rudy, who was obviously pleased. The chapter ended with Hugh Malco also getting arrested on his way to work. Not sure how he ties into this plot, but I’m guessing it’s because the Red Velvet was called.
