Bailey was starting to figure out his small little world and where Ethan his owner wanted him at times. It was hard for him when he was away at school because he was left all alone and didn't know what to do. He discovered he could go through his dog door and thought this was something Ethan didn't tell him about. He got out of the yard as when he did when he was younger. One of Ethan's friends spots him what now.

I'm glad that little incident was over quick one of Ethan's friends tried to steal Bailey. Someone in his house let him go after she saw him in the house. He managed to escape and he from that day learned his lesson he would never go back to that area near his house. It was then that they all went on a long car ride to a farm where Bailey was sprayed twice by a skunk and had to be washed of all the stink, it was fun.

From his rescue from the hot truck nearly dying Toby was taken from the truck and to a new owner. He was now called Bailey. He went to a family with one young son of 8 years old and a cat that didn't care for him. He was so excited that Bailey was his. He would play with him and be happy rolling in the grass. He showed him to his friends. He was now in a place he was cared for. Everything would then change.

Things were beginning to change for Toby. He got a new mother to be fed from he remembers his first mom but now things were different she wasn't coming back. He was met by other puppies like him. He was becoming adventurous. He was making a way for himself in the world he would escape just as his first mother taught him to. He escaped out of the yard into a new life that almost ended him in a hot truck with a new man

Spike was the new dog that was not like any of the other dogs in the pack. There was a fight between Top Dog and Spike and and Spike ended up showing he was now in charge and it was going to be different now. After a while though things would turn the owner was reported for having too many dogs in a environment that was not good for them. They were taken away in cages after that.

You can see what's happening as the dog Toby narrates the story almost like your right there with him walking around being a dog. He thought it was funny when the dogs including him got fixed. He wasn't sure why they all had cones around their necks. His way of life was changing his mother had escaped without him and his siblings as he stayed. A new dog was entering the pack called Spike it would never be the same.

Seeing the perspective of the dog is very interesting. You see his world and the environment he is placed in with other dogs. As a puppy he is witnessing a new environment one he doesn't stay too long with just him his mother and brother. Though right towards the end he and his mother escape through the door as she manages to get it open leaving the brother there. They both go off into the night.

After Reading The Call of the Wild I needed more dog books in my life. I'm already pulled into this book. It's already showing the perspective of the puppy and the world that's being shaped around him growing up, losing a sibling so young and almost thought he was losing his mother to humans. I can't wait to read the next chapter. I seen the movie as well a while back.
