Such a fantastic book. My respect for immigrants has grown ten fold. Coming to the US in the late 17th/early 18th century was spirit crushing. We now have laws in place - some in part thanks to this book- to protect people… I can’t imagine the challenges faced by immigrants today has changed much. Someone is always looking to take advantage of “the weak”.
My heart goes out to Jurgis and Ona!
