It doesn’t really feel like an enemies-to-lovers story. Only Effy sees Preston as an enemy, even though he’s done nothing wrong—he’s polite, reasonable, and not provoking her. She labels him as snobbish mainly because he doesn’t believe in faeries, which isn’t a fair reason to judge him.
We still don’t know Effy’s trauma, but her reactions feel childish—she takes everything as a personal attack.

Vivid descriptions of the settings, but no clear explanation of how the world works—its legends, Effy’s backstory, or what she actually wants.

Perhaps it is too early to judge, but I feel that the worldbuilding is not presented in a particularly clear way.
The setting includes a university, electricity, and cars, yet strong gender inequalities persist. The protagonist encounters magical phenomena that others refuse to acknowledge, and it is unclear whether the folklore figures are believed to be real within the society or regarded as mere superstition.
