I'm barely a third of the way through the book, so I definitely wouldn't rule it out. We haven't even yet met the woman who's widely speculated to have had a lesbian relationship with Saint Hildegard. I mean, before she became a saint.
Don't take anything for granted: the foreshadowing looks more hetero than lesbian, but of course the author may be setting up a plot twist later on. I'll post an update when I've found out.Now that I think about it, this is the problem with many religious works. I mean, how many plot twists can you name in the Divina Commedia?
