Direct Characterization: Andy is constantly described as worn down from his years of running: he's tired, disheveled, and haunted by his past

Indirect: He's very family centered, risking everything just to keep his daughter safe from "the shop". He manipulated people to maintain this with psychic abilities, convincing the taxi driver to drive him and Charlie a long distance with the promise of a 500$ bill.

I would like to say my story concept is high concept. I've been plotting out the novel for about a year now. It's a fantasy story taking place in a world where magic is the norm, and everyone is sent on a little quest to be initiated into their community. The main character doesn't have magic. They want to, but don't. I don't have enough words to describe what it's all about.

I think firestarter is an interesting title choice. On the surface, it's pretty simple; there's a girly with supernatural powers who starts fires. She's the main focal point so the title is named in reference to her. I think on a metaphorical level, it highlights the intensity and destruction that might rise during the story.

I Couldn't find any nonfiction books that talked about generative ai, plus I forgot my ID at home so I read this book I grabbed yesterday in novel writing. Honestly, I picked this book because I haven't written anything by Steven King before, and I've heard he's good, so why not read something by him? I'm not the biggest fan of slasher, or gross out horror, and I don't think this has much of that.
