Craziest stuff happens in this book I mean I feel like I haven’t had to truly work my imagination like this for a while and it me kind of refreshing that the author doesn’t get bogged down in the details too much.
Is it not just a little bit concerning that Ares, the actually god of destructive bloody messy war, deems the United States the “Best place since Sparta”?

This book just got way more philosophical once the main three went into the Underworld like the souls of the dead aren’t scary just sad? Wow
But on the flip side, I love how unsure Charon and Cerberus, and Hades are because administrative work is reasonably difficult.
I expected Hades wasn’t behind all of this but since Zeus and Hades’ weapons are missing, how could they not guess who took them?

“Why?”
“Because you’re my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more questions?” I like that Annabeth is making her own choices now, not based purely on what her mother or father or Chiron or anyone else wants, she deserves that independence
Also I have been loving the chapter titles cause they just get weirder and weirder but they’re absolutely factual to what happens

This book is truly a rollercoaster cause one moment they’re talking to a poodle and Grover’s insisting that Percy show the poodle respect. And then the next Annabeth’s wishing her father accepted her and Grover’s musing about how the sky is polluted and how he’s going to find Pan and fix the climate crisis, and then Percy’s wondering if he died would that save everyone… like they’re 12 years old??

Oof I LOVE picking up on all the details to see which mythological characters these three come across
Aunty Em
veiled eyes
Startled looking statues
“Middle-Eastern” skin tone or olive skin
Two mortal sisters
Weary of Annabeth’s grey eyes
“Em” = M

“Relax. Keep a clear head. And remember, you may be about to prevent the biggest war in human history.”
This whole camp seems like a terrible idea. I get that it’s a place to keep half-bloods safe, but TRAINING THEM TO FIGHT MONSTERS?! At like nine years old?
Did they just sent three middle schoolers to travel across the country by land to the Underworld solve a godly dispute??🤦‍♀️

I feel like Percy would be in less of an identity crisis is people stopped dropping hints about him being “important” and then refusing to give him more info, ragebaiting at an Olympic level

RIP Sally Jackson, I only knew you for 20 pages I’m genuinely saddened that she’s gone

Also why is everyone so incredibly unserious? This 12-year old’s mom just DIED! Why are you suddenly quizzing him like this?!
