Before reading, I briefly skimmed the reviews for this novel. One reviewer described Norman's writing as "lovely" and I have to say I agree.
I'm especially fond of how Alaric, and Fabian's relationship with her, is described. Her story is set more than a century before. And yet, I know her. Norman's storytelling is intimately vivid. Despite the historic setting, each character is a person I feel I have met before.
