Full transparency, I thought this book was about chess. I am to blame since I insisted on going in blind, but this book is very heavy. Not only are we navigating complex human relationships, but the writing style feels so dense.

Mentally it doesn't feel like there is a break to move forward with time, but instead is constantly in dialogue or monologue. The more I read it the more I realize I may not be a Rooney fan.
