Having just finished the first official chapter that covered the Soviet famines, I felt a range of emotions from anger to deep, aching sadness.
I felt myself mourning those lost to famine nearly a century ago, most with names forgotten the moment they died at the hands of Stalin. I was also naively unaware of cannibalism in Soviet Ukraine during the famine in the early ‘30s.
Truly as astonishing work of history.
