After I finished my most recent book, I couldn’t understand why the men in her life were so abusive and controlling of her. I couldn’t make myself get in their mindset or understand why they behaved that way, and I wanted to understand why. I believe there is likely a correlation between beliefs and behavior and oppressive, hierarchal environments like the fundie one she was raised in could explain it.
