Maybe I’m just a hater, but reading the reviews from so many others makes me feel like I read a completely different book. Such a good opportunity to explore the intricacies of Kemmer and human sexuality but Le Guin just does not go there. I want more out of this book than it cares to give. Feels like the topic it tackles with the impact it had could have as easily been achieved in a short story.

Hmmm. I feel like I’m not experiencing these characters discoveries with them. Instead, it feels like I’m reading their recounting of these events much like they’d minimize it in a journal entry. The only times I feel it going somewhere interesting is when it gets dialogue rolling, but that’s soon followed up with an uninteresting ‘they talked all morning.’ I wanna be in the room with them

I have wanted to sink my teeth into an Ursula K. Le Guin book for a long time, but it just might not be the book for me. My motivation to complete this lies only im honoring the historicity and cultural impact of the book in the time it was published. Were it not for this book, I might not have had the privilege of experiencing the very same media that’s desensitized me to this works controversial power.
