“Theology at its best has perceived that logos and praxis, Word and
Spirit belong together. Doctrine without devotion is empty; devotion without doctrine is blind. If the goal of theology is simply to bring our thoughts into conformity with the mind of God we run the risk of rationalism or propositionalism. If our goal is solely to effect a change in
life or character we are prone to reduce theology to ethicism.”
