This is hitting me like a ton of bricks, but I can’t quite find the reasons or words to explain why. I am a straight white man from the UK, so while I am an outsider to the experiences detailed so far in this book I still find moments that I connect to in Jess’ search for identity and belonging. It’s an extremely tough read at points, but leaving me scarred from words is nothing to actually experiencing it.
