I wonder if White was inspired by the CreepyPasta Candle Cove which became the 1st season of a horror show Channel Zero. The 1st season was about a show adults remembered watching as kids, but none of their parents could see that they were watching anything, it was just static. The show was very creepy & featured some disturbing uses of teeth and as soon as I started reading I thought of it for the 1st time in years.
