I can hardly get through 1-2 pages without feeling the need to reread a line; because the author visualizes and captures his story so incredibly well. It is so impactful.

“If in Germany today there were a prison built on top of a former concentration camp, and that prison disproportionately incarcerated Jewish people [it would provoke outrage through the world]” … wow how true

I am just staring the Angola Prison section of this book. It is upsetting to hear that of course after slavery was officially abolished, Black people were still being enslaved by the judicial system. Forced into slavery by convictions and being unfairly convicted by non unanimous convictions. It made me think to today, that this is still occurring.
