So far, it’s transcendent as Morrison usually is. This order of essays and speeches has been extraordinary to witness in real time as well. This morning I came across her 1993 Nobel Prize speech, which I’d not read in years, and re-discovered its timeless resonance. Following that with “Cinderella’s Stepsisters” (a piece I used to teach) was perfection!
