i just started chapter 28 and things are looking good for the joad fambly—but there was no mention of tom so now i’m starting to palpitate, as is usually the case when i’m reading a steinbeck

things we should tell people more often:

1. don’t go tellin’
2. tell ‘em to god
3. don’ go burdenin’ other people with your sins
4. that ain’t decent
5. go down the river an’ stick your head under an’ whisper ‘em in the stream

faced with a dilemma like that, who do you blame? who do you get rid of? what can a mere mortal even possibly do to end the certainty of helplessness in the face of an omnipotent unknown?
