It does. Yet, (weirdly) the other one is, in fact, more earnest and emotional under all the "comedy". 'Alte Meister' is Bernhard's most personal novel. I also love 'Ja'

@Bogdan Yes I see what you mean. I just feel it more here. But you are right Alte Meister is one of his more emotional ones, even though all of his work is very touching when one gets past the absurdity and the ranting.
