There are some good ideas and observations about religion and some very sharp dialogue in this book, but I just can't with the objectionable everything else.
I'm not sure I can finish this re-read.

Nate wrote: "Oooh what is objectionable? Haven’t read any of his stuff before…"A short list...
• the casual disdain for blue-collar immigrant workers, past the point of ridicule and into racist territory
• the casual objectification of one of the main characters, YT, an underage fifteen year old female skateboard courier, by virtually every character other than the other principal protagonist
• the portrayal of animal cruelty towards rescue dogs as an upgrade for them, because it turns them into cybernetically-enhanced protectors powered by fissionable material
Stephenson's ideas about religion and linguistics in ancient Mesopotamia are still fantastic, but all of the above isn't worth going through to get there.
