Chapter 6 is where the book really begins to enter its emotional core of what it feels like watching the fascist regime grow. The horror of watching yourself slowly grow colder as a person while you watch the fascist state's instruments of force brutally used on its own citizens with too many being too comfortable looking the other way.

mira what an odd and frightening feeling to have your own thoughts and emotions so validated by a book from 1964 that was definitely written in response to the rise of the Nazis and similar fascist regimes of that time.

going in expecting Dune lite and coming out with the same feeling i get having scrolled twitter for an hour, oops
