There’s a lot of heavy details and historical context put into the middle of sentences. The prologue really laid out a lovely Christmassy feeling in Midwinter, but the entirety of Chapter 1 was surrounding a very short conversation at an office Christmas party. The very heavy details about some characters had done in the past seems a bit irrelevant at the moment and did make chapter 1 feel very slow and uneventful
