I loved this sm. I kept trying to find reasons to not give it 5 stars bc I was feeling for a while that I’m too generous w them but who cares if I love a book so much? It’s the whole point of reading so I don’t care I’ll give it the 5 stars I want to give it & won’t look for any more excuses not to. I might even eventually add it to my yearly top 10 but not yet bc 2 already in January? Don’t know abt that

So Jack Stapleton was this side character all throughout the book as this famous actor or singer or whatever and it just hit me that the author has a book called the bodyguard about some famous guy and I was like waittt what if it’s him and I just checked and yeah hahaha it’s literally him. I’m sure if I read that book first I would’ve loved seeing him in this book but I’m glad I put that together

Okay so actually he just learned that it was bronchitis and not cancer 😭 he found out on the stage of him where he received a phone call about it. All of this after he gave a speech to everyone how he fell in love with Emma and how she was right about love aw this is a great scene

Aw so Charlie had been pushing Emma away all this time bc he found out he has lung cancer and didn’t want her to be trapped taking care of him

“My dad & I had spent a lot of time in various hospitals over the years. I could describe some of them down to the ceiling tiles. But we’d never seen anything like this. Plants? In a hospital room? Free-roaming massage therapists in the hallways? Ice cream delivery on a three-wheeled scooter?”

realized this was for sureee Charlie & not a coincidence awww even tho they’re not talking & Emma told him to go

“I think,” he said, surprisingly lucid for a moment, “that you’re my favorite person I’ve ever met.”“Oh,” I said, looking back down. “That’s very nice of you.”“And I’ve met”—and here, less lucid, he made a big, drunk gesture—“everybody. In the world. And you’re my favorite. Out of all seven billion.”

Aww he’s drunk when saying this but it’s just so cute

So I actually love Charlie. Like Emma was just fumbling in front of a big producer bc she wanted to give her her screenplay then Charlie came in and completely turned around the situation and got the director to be really interested in Emma especially with the way he was keep complimenting Emma’s work like crazy. This was after he ran out of a meeting to get Emma her backpack super quickly. He’s just amazing

Aw it’s actually cute and I like it. Good classic rom com. Very fun and quick. I’m enjoying it and starting to like Charlie. I like Emma too

Charlie is such a prick and I also don’t like stories where the fmc knows and obsesses over the mmc for years before meeting him. Like she knows way too much about him and even had his pic in her room. Like no. That’s already a gross power imbalance I feel like. Plus he’s generally just an ass. Not taking her seriously at all and wanting to play her and lying to her about taking the job seriously
