mrs. stapleton's account of her trauma bond and physical injuries is quite jarring

"the baronet's face perceptibly lengthened' lmfao why is this so funny

there have been some pages that were more suspenseful and engaging in this section of the book, then it would pivot to being more bleak or so much detail describing one particular person or thing that it would be a little overwhelming and throw me off track.

"my life has been one incessant persecution from a husband whom i abhor. the law is upon his side and every day i am faced by the possibility he may force me to live with him.... i had learned that there was a prospect of regaining my freedom if certain expenses could be met. it meant everything to me - peace of mind, happiness, self-respect - everything." - 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

the storyline tightens its grip. the moor grows heavier. baskerville hall feels quietly watched. nothing major happens, but an obvious unease seeps in. lots of small details and pieces coming together.
